Welcome!

My research interests primarily center on the sedimentological record of ice-sheet changes and the processes that drive them. I combine field methods and laboratory analyses to better understand the feedbacks responsible for ice-sheet instability in the paleo-record. Understanding these processes is crucial to making realistic projections of ice mass loss and the effects on coastlines worldwide.

Interested in grad school?

Currently* considering motivated students interested in an MS or PhD graduate degree studying Antarctic marine sedimentology/micropaleontology (funding available), and an MS student interested in studying coastal sedimentary processes (full funding guaranteed)! Click here for more information on the CMSS MS and PhD programs at TAMUCC and here for the ESCI MS program at TAMUCC.

Funding information: I currently have active grants from the National Science Foundation and the Matagorda Bay Mitigation Trust, and early PhD applicants may be eligible for our SAGE Fellowship.

*As of September 2023

Please also visit this site, designed by two geoscience PhD students. It provides tips for how to navigate the graduate school application process at any school in the US. Based on their experiences, the students provide an application timeline that gives guidance on when and how to choose the research focus and program that's right for you, reach out to a potential advisor, write a personal statement, and request recommendation letters.

Considering a post-doc?

I am also always open to considering eligible researchers in search of postdoctoral research opportunities through the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at any time. These fully funded fellowships are offered annually, with full proposal packages typically due by the first week in February. Please contact me well in advance of this deadline if you have an exciting research idea you might like to develop for this with me as the supervising researcher.

Check out my Research Blog for updates, my Research page for a broad overview of my interests, and my curriculum vitae for a comprehensive record of my scholarly activities. Feel free to contact me with any questions or inquiries about graduate research opportunities in my lab as part of the Environmental Science or Coastal and Marine System Sciences programs at TAMUCC!
